Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara National Park is a scenic gem in Tanzania, known for its incredible birdlife, including thousands of pink flamingos, and its famous tree-climbing lions. The park spans 325 square kilometers, of which two-thirds is underwater during the wet season.

Wildlife and Habitat
The diverse habitats, from the alkaline lake to woodlands and grasslands, support a wide array of wildlife. Elephants, giraffes, hippos, and a variety of monkeys are also residents of the park.

When to Visit
The best time for wildlife viewing is during the dry season from July to October. For bird watchers, the wet season from November to June offers the most spectacular sights, with migrant birds swelling the ranks of the resident species.
Birdwatching Guide
Bring a good pair of binoculars and a bird guidebook to identify the park’s diverse bird species. The best birdwatching spots include the lake’s shore and the groundwater forest.

Tsetse Flies: Be prepared for tsetse flies in certain areas of the park; wear neutral-colored clothing and use insect repellent.
