Arusha National Park is a multi-faceted jewel often overlooked by safari-goers. It encompasses the Mount Meru Crater, Ngurdoto Crater, and the Momella Lakes. The park offers a unique blend of landscapes and is a fantastic place for a day trip or the start of a northern circuit safari.
Wildlife and Habitat
Despite its small size, the park has a rich diversity of habitats and wildlife, including colobus monkeys, giraffes, and over 400 bird species. The Ngurdoto Crater is often referred to as a “mini Ngorongoro.”
When to Visit
Arusha National Park is accessible and beautiful year-round, with the dry season from June to October being ideal for hiking and wildlife viewing.
Day Trip Planning
Since it’s close to Arusha town, consider it as a day trip option if you have limited time. It offers a condensed safari experience, including wildlife viewing, hiking, and canoeing on the Momella Lakes.
